MANUFACTURER SOURCE REVIEW / OCTOBER 31, 2026

A model's headline number isn't always your family's number.

Range, seating and cargo can change with model year, trim, wheel selection and seat configuration. For a real family, the correct comparison is the exact vehicle you'd actually buy.

Critical example: Lucid's frequently advertised 450-mile Gravity Grand Touring range applies to a five-seat, two-row specification—not its seven-passenger configuration. We distinguish these in the register rather than comparing incomparable versions.
VEHICLE 1 / MANUFACTURER SOURCE

Lucid Gravity Grand Touring

Documented specification: Lucid advertises up to 450 EPA-estimated miles for a two-row, five-seat version on specified wheels. Its three-row, seven-passenger configuration has a different stated range (437 miles with 20/21-inch wheels; 386 with larger wheel combinations, according to the 2026 U.S. specification sheet).

Still open: Independent road-trip range, third-row access, cargo with seven occupants and real charging behavior under varied conditions.

Buyer's configuration check: Do not label 450 miles the seven-seat range. Verify year, seat count, wheel package and trim.

Hyundai IONIQ 9

Documented specification: Hyundai's 2026 manufacturer media data lists a 110.3-kWh battery, EPA-estimated range up to 335 miles for RWD S, and 21.9 cubic feet of cargo space with all three rows in use.

Still open: Independent long-range charging curves, real third-row comfort, trim-specific ownership costs and cold-weather performance.

Buyer's configuration check: 335 miles is tied to a specified RWD trim, not every AWD or performance version.

Kia EV9

Documented specification: Kia's 2026 U.S. page identifies three-row seating for up to seven and EPA-estimated range up to 305 miles, dependent on configuration.

Still open: Specific trim seating and cargo practicality, independent highway range, charge experience and ownership expense.

Buyer's configuration check: The highest advertised range is not a blanket rating for every trim or wheel configuration.

Tesla Model Y L Premium

Documented specification: Tesla's current U.S. Model Y page lists the long-wheelbase Model Y L Premium with six seats, an EPA-estimated 332-mile range and up to 250-kW Supercharging.

Still open: Third-row comfort with six occupants, long-term service, real highway charging and detailed comparisons with larger seven-seat SUVs.

Buyer's configuration check: Model Y L is a six-seater, not a seven-seat alternative. The standard Model Y's seat count and specifications are different.

Rivian R1S

Documented specification: Rivian's official R1 shop lists 2026 R1S configurations and seven-seat options. Example 2026 listings include a Dual Max range of 370 miles, while other motors and tire configurations differ.

Still open: Independent road-trip efficiency, service cost, exact cargo practicality and configuration-specific charging experience.

Buyer's configuration check: Do not mix 2027 R1S's 410-mile figures with a 2026 R1S variant; check the year, battery, motor and tires.

NO INVENTED DRIVE TESTS

Research isn't road testing.

This register verifies selected manufacturer statements. It does not establish identical real-world driving conditions, comparative reliability or independently measured range.

Our current Foxy Five editorial ranking is unchanged. Numerical performance scores require supporting model-level evidence first.
